I’m Safe: Skyddsrum — Terms of Use

Last updated: 14 October 2026

I’m Safe: Skyddsrum (“the app”) is offered by Emil Alm, an individual based in Sweden (“we”, “us”). By using the app, you accept these terms. They are between you and us, not Apple. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your licence to the app.

The app

The app shows the public shelters in Sweden that are nearest to you, or to a place you search for, with distance, walking time and direction. The shelter data comes from the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency (MCF) and is in the app, so it works without a network connection. The app is free. It has no in-app purchases, no ads and no account.

The app does not warn you about air raids or other dangers. Warning signals cannot always be heard indoors: listen to Sveriges Radio P4.

No promise that a shelter is open

The app cannot tell whether a shelter is unlocked, ready or full. Shelters must be possible to make ready within 48 hours. In peacetime they are often used for other things and can be locked. During heightened alert, the property owner must unlock them, and those seeking shelter may need to help.

You do not belong to a particular shelter: anyone may use any shelter. If a shelter is full or you cannot get in, go to the next one or to another protected place. Basements, garages and underground metro stations also give protection.

Where the data comes from

The shelter data comes from MCF. The list of temporarily closed shelters is fetched every night from MCF’s open service. The app shows the date of both, and both dates are MCF’s. MCF has not made or approved the app.

The data can be wrong or out of date: a shelter can be closed, have the wrong address or be missing. Report errors in the app to emil@im-safe.se. Information about an individual shelter is corrected by MCF or the municipality.

Other services

Directions opens Apple Maps, and Share opens your phone’s share sheet. Their own terms apply. The app downloads the list of temporarily closed shelters from GitHub, which hosts it.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

If you are a consumer in the EU or the EEA: under consumer law we are responsible for making sure the app matches these terms and what you can reasonably expect, including the updates needed to keep it secure, for as long as we provide it. Nothing in this section limits those rights.

Apart from that, and as far as the law allows, the app is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it is free from errors, that the data in it is correct or up to date, or that a shelter it shows is open, ready or has room.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or under product liability law, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Swedish law. Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect loss, or for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of a mobile network, a device or a service the app relies on.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when the app, the law or a service the app relies on changes. The current version is always at emilalm.app/skyddsrum/terms, with its date at the top. We announce a change that is not solely to your benefit on this page at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
