Help with im-ok 2.0, the app called "i’m ok" on your home screen.
Contact us
Email support@im-ok.com, in English or Swedish. There is no phone support.
It helps if you include:
- the phone number on your account, with its country code (+46 or +1);
- your iPhone model and iOS version;
- the app version, shown at the bottom of the profile tab (for example "i’m ok v2.0.0");
- what you did, what happened and roughly when. A screenshot helps.
Never send us a login code from a text message. We never need it.
Write to the same address with questions about your personal data, or to use your rights under our privacy policy.
im-ok is not an emergency service
im-ok never calls, texts or alerts emergency services, and nobody monitors your check-ins. It only notifies the friends you have added, after your check-in window has passed. A notification or a location can arrive late or not at all.
If you or someone else is in danger, call the emergency number where you are: 112 in Sweden, 911 in the United States. 112 also works in every other EU country. Do not wait for a missed check-in or for your friends to be alerted.
How im-ok works
You choose one six-hour check-in window a day, in your local time: morning (06:00–12:00), afternoon (12:00–18:00), evening (18:00–00:00) or night (00:00–06:00). The heart on the "i’m ok" tab shows where you are:
- Blue: your window is open. One tap on the heart checks you in.
- Green: you have checked in. Nothing more to do until it turns blue again.
- Red: your window ended without a check-in. Your friends are alerted. If you share your location, they also see your last known location until you check in again or pause. One tap turns you green, and your friends are told you are ok.
- Grey: your check-ins are paused. No reminders, and nothing counts as missed.
The app shows this again under profile → help → "how i’m ok works".
Frequent questions
How do I sign in?
Enter your mobile number and tap "send code". We text you a 6-digit code to enter in the app. There is no password, no email sign-in and no social login. A new account then asks for your name, your animal and your check-in window.
Which phone numbers work?
Only Swedish (+46) and US (+1) mobile numbers that can receive SMS. Numbers from other countries, including those that share +1 such as Canada, cannot be used. The same goes for the friends you add.
I don't get the code
Check the number and its country. After a minute, "resend code" sends a new one. Too many attempts block sign-in for a while: if the app says "too many tries — wait a few minutes and try again", wait before you try again. The limits are in section 5 of the terms. If you think your number is blocked by mistake, for example because you recently got it from your carrier, email us.
Where can I get im-ok, and which iPhones work?
im-ok is offered only on the App Store in the United States and Sweden. Whether you can get it depends on the country or region of your Apple Account, not on your phone number. im-ok 2.0 needs iOS 26 or later.
I have a new phone or a new number
On a new phone, install im-ok and sign in with the same number. Your friends, check-in window and bubbles are kept on our server.
The app cannot change the number on an account. Before you give up your old number, delete your account (profile → account → "delete account") or email us to delete it, because whoever gets that number later could sign in to your account. Then sign in with your new number to start a new account.
How do I add a friend?
On the friends tab, tap + ("add a friend"). Then either:
- under "from your contacts", tap "allow" next to "find people you know" to see which of your contacts already use im-ok, and tap + next to a name; or
- under "by phone number", type their number and tap "send request".
The other person has to accept. Requests to you appear on the friends tab under "friend requests", and the ones you sent under "sent requests". If someone is not on im-ok yet, the app says "not on i’m ok yet", and "invite" lets you send them a message from your own phone.
How do I remove a friend?
On the friends tab, tap "edit", then the × on their row, then "remove". The friendship ends for both of you, and they are not notified.
What do my friends see?
Your name, your animal and your check-in status. Your location reaches a friend only while they have an open alert about your missed check-in. They see your phone number only while a friend request between you is pending. Anyone on im-ok who has your number, for example in their contacts, can see that you use im-ok and your name.
When are my friends alerted?
Our server checks for missed check-ins once an hour, so an alert can reach your friends up to about an hour after your window ends. A check-in made without a connection is sent when you are back online, and until it reaches us, your friends can be alerted. Section 6 of the terms lists when no alert is sent and what can delay one.
Notifications
im-ok asks for notifications right after a new account's first check-in, or when you open the app with an account that has checked in before. With them, you get a reminder when your window opens, and you hear when a friend misses a check-in, checks in again after a miss, pauses or sends you a friend request. Without them, you get no reminders and don't hear when a friend misses, and the "i’m ok" tab can show "notifications are off, so you won't get reminders." with "open settings". You can change this in Settings → Apps → i’m ok → Notifications.
Location
Location is optional. If you allow it, im-ok keeps one last known location for you, with no history, and gives it to a friend only while they have an open alert about your missed check-in. With "While Using the App", it is recorded when you open im-ok. With "Always", im-ok can also record it while the app is closed, for example when you miss a check-in. The friends tab may ask you to set location to "always", with "allow" or "open settings".
Without location, everything else works the same. An alerted friend sees "no location shared this time" if no location is stored for you. Setting location to "Never" stops new recordings but does not delete the one already stored, and a friend who is alerted about a missed check-in still receives it. Email us to have it deleted. You can change this in Settings → Apps → i’m ok → Location.
Contacts
Contacts are optional and only used to find friends who already use im-ok. Names stay on your phone. Only phone numbers are sent to our server to look for matches, and it stores none of them. If you declined, tap "open settings" next to "find people you know", or go to Settings → Apps → i’m ok → Contacts. You can always add friends by number instead.
How do I change my check-in window?
Go to profile → check-in window, tap the window you want and tap "confirm". Today's status stays the same: the new window applies from your next check-in, and until then it is marked "(next check-in)". To take the change back, tap your current window. Changing the window needs a connection.
What about time zones?
im-ok follows your iPhone's time zone, so your window is always in local time. When you travel, open im-ok in the new time zone so our server learns about it. Until then, your window follows the old one. Differences of less than an hour are ignored.
How do I pause?
Go to profile → check-in window, turn on "pause check-ins" and choose "3 days", "7 days", "10 days" or "14 days". While paused, you get no reminders and nothing counts as missed. Your friends see that you are paused and are notified when you pause and when you are back.
You can pause after you have checked in or missed a check-in, but not while your window is open and you have not checked in yet. A pause ends by itself. To end it early, tap the grey heart and then "end pause", or turn "pause check-ins" off. Pausing needs a connection.
How do I change my animal or my name?
im-ok 2.0 has no profile photos. You pick one of the app's animal drawings when you set up im-ok, and your friends see it next to your name. To change it, tap your animal on the profile tab and pick another under "your animal". To change your name, tap "edit" next to it on the profile tab, then "save".
What are bubbles?
Bubbles are im-ok's points, in green and blue, shown on the profile tab. A check-in usually earns some; section 9 of the terms explains how. They cannot be bought, sold, sent to anyone, cashed out or spent, and they have no money value. im-ok 2.0 sells nothing.
What is the ad?
The only ad in im-ok is optional. After a check-in that earned bubbles, im-ok may ask "double your check-in reward?". "watch an ad" plays one ad from Google: watch it to the end and you get the reward once more. "keep it" keeps the reward as it is. Checking in never needs an ad. If the ad cannot be shown, the app says "couldn't show the ad — you keep your check-in reward".
Ad settings and "tracking in ios"
The first time you tap "watch an ad", iOS asks whether im-ok may track you (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). Where Google's rules require it, for example in Sweden, Google then shows its consent form. Whatever you answer, check-ins work the same and a watched ad still doubles your reward. If you decline, the ad may be offered less often, or not at all.
Once there is an answer to change, usually after your first "watch an ad", these rows can appear under profile → privacy:
- "tracking in ios" opens iOS Settings. Apple's tracking choices are under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- "ad settings" opens Google's form again, so you can change your answer to it. It appears only where Google offers this.
How do I delete my account?
Go to profile → account → "delete account", type "delete" and tap "delete account". This permanently deletes your account, check-ins, friends and bubbles, and cannot be undone. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account. If you cannot use the app, email us and we will delete your account for you.
The privacy policy lists what is kept after deletion, and section 5 of the terms explains the limit on repeated deletions.
What happened to im-ok 1.x?
- im-ok 1.x stopped working before im-ok 2.0 was released. To keep using im-ok, update to 2.0 from the App Store.
- In early September 2026 we copied your 1.x account to im-ok 2.0. Sign in with the same phone number, and your friends, bubbles and settings are there. Anything done in 1.x after the copy was made did not carry over. If you created your account after that, sign in to im-ok 2.0 to create a new one.
- Profile photos did not come along. im-ok 2.0 has no profile photos: you pick an animal instead.
- im-ok 2.0 has no premium, support mode, market or gifts. Premium and bubble packs are no longer sold, and a premium subscription is not renewed. Bubbles you bought stay on your balance, but there is nothing to spend them on.
- Apple sold and billed premium and bubble packs, so refunds are through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides on refunds under its own policies. You can see your subscriptions in your Apple Account settings (Apple's instructions). If you are charged for premium again, ask Apple for a refund and tell us.
- On an iPhone that cannot run iOS 26, the App Store may still offer im-ok 1.x, but it no longer works.
- If you used im-ok 1.x and cannot use 2.0, for example because your iPhone cannot run iOS 26, the App Store does not offer im-ok in your country or region, or your number is not Swedish or US, email us. We will delete the copy of your account, so your friends are no longer alerted that you missed a check-in.
Where are the privacy policy and terms?
In the app, they are under profile → privacy → "privacy policy" and "terms".
